The Career Start project initiated and implemented by AIESEC in Kyiv was widely supported by KPMG in Ukraine. The firm acted as a Golden Sponsor of the Career Start conference, a core event that took place on June 2.
Within the project, over 50 students and young professionals who successfully participated in AIESEC’s three education projects (Skills Matter, HRevolution, and PRreppers) took part in the business simulation game. The project’s strategic aim was to familiarize the best students and young professionals with employment opportunities existing in the leading Ukrainian firms and companies.

At the conference Sergey Popov, Partner, KPMG in Ukraine, made a presentation on the firm itself and the services it provides, and specifically focused on the opportunities it creates for young professionals. He initiated a friendly dialogue with participants and answered a number of interesting and practical questions afterwards.

The presentations were followed by a meeting of AIESEC’s partners. AIESEC leaders presented the projects that were implemented over the last year and focused on the upcoming projects for the years 2010-2011. In turn, the partners led by KPMG initiated general discussion of various formats of cooperation with AIESEC in future.

After that the students received a chance to attend KPMG’s promo table. This format was designed for KPMG to closer meet with participants of the event. Students and graduates found out more about employment opportunities with KPMG, particularly about potential vacancies, requirements to candidates, as well as advantages of working for KPMG. The firm’s promo table was staffed by Sergey Popov, Natalia Butenko, HR Manager, and Kateryna Pokotylo, HR Assistant, as well as by professional staff from the Audit and Tax & Legal Departments.

After lunch, a key part of the project took place when a number of teams participated in the business simulation, a game that modeled business processes in big companies. The players who shared various business roles among themselves were supposed to reach certain business indicators by taking specific business decisions. A number of KPMG professionals, including Pavlo Myronov, Tetyana Krynytska, Oleksandr Shumsky, Ihor Pidlisny, and Serhiy Myronenko, joined each of the teams acting as team leaders.

The winners and runner-ups received memorable prizes from KPMG and other partners and, what is equally important, immersed in the interesting and challenging process of business decision making.

AIESEC is the biggest international youth NGO creating opportunities for young people to develop their leadership, professional and personal skills to positively influence the society.
